ZEFC Youth Group: Valentines Dinner Fundraiser
So last weekend I had such a great opportunity volunteering to help with a fundraiser that the youth group of Zimmerman Evangelical Free Church (www.ZEFC.com) put on to help them raise money to go to Nationals (Challenge 2010 Conference). Nationals is an every other year event done by the EFCA that is for teens who are serious about their walk with Christ and want to be challenged to deepen their relationship with Him. I think it is great that our next generation is keeping their faith strong in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (For more information on Nationals you can visit their website at www.challengeconference.com)
They all did a wonderful job in creating a romantic evening for their Valentines Dinner Fundraiser. Starting out with a coat check as you entered you would then be lead to a cozy room with a fire place and dim lights, which had a display of delicious appetizers and refreshments. When dinner was ready you would be taken to dine in a candlelit room to enjoy a pasta dish and salad where you could donate to have live musicians play at your table. Then you were welcomed to go and relax while listening to music, savoring your tasty desert and sipping your coffee or tea. You could even donate money for a rose to give to your loved one and choose to have your picture taken of which you would receive a copy as a keep sake. So between the initial price of the dinner, donations and tips that would go towards their fund to Nationals, it was a successful evening for everyone!
With plenty of time before the couples would have their portraits taken with me, I took some candid shots of the youth group getting ready and working hard to make a wonderful evening for their guest. For the set up, the youth group supplied a trellis for the portraits of which they wanted used, to give a romantic feel. The lighting was a little difficult to work with, but with some help and a lot of adjusting it worked out. Over all this was quite different than how I'm used to working, but I have to say it was a great learning experience, and truly a blessing to be apart of.

You are such a blessing with your God-given talents! Your pictures are beautiful and you can tell the couple in the picture at top had a great time. Sounds like a very creative fundraiser event. Best of luck to those youth going to challenge!
